With the series À travers elles, I pay tribute to women who left their mark on history through their commitments, their works, their discoveries or the battles they fought. Women artists, political figures, activists, intellectuals, or women whose path helped transform society: each of them, in her own way, pushed back the boundaries of her time. Some became iconic figures; others remained in the shadows, forgotten or insufficiently recognised. Through their faces, I seek to bring singular lives to light, to revive memories and to question the place given to women in our collective history. The portrait then becomes a means of transmission, but also an act of recognition: giving a face to those who helped shape the world, and making their presence visible in our contemporary landscape.
This series also marks a development in my practice, driven by a wish to explore new mediums and new tools by taking up the codes of street art. Stencil, spray paint and acrylic allow me to approach the portrait differently, working on simplified forms, strong contrast, layered colours and the immediate impact of the image. On paper or on canvas, these techniques open up a new field of experimentation, where painting meets urban intervention. This research has also extended into public space: on three occasions I have painted outdoor murals, commissioned by clients. These experiences allowed me to test my work against other scales and other contexts, turning the wall into a medium for creation and encounter. With À travers elles, I want to pursue this exploration of a painting that steps outside its usual frames, takes over shared space and brings the memory of women into dialogue with the images that inhabit our streets.
