Clémence Devienne is a multidisciplinary artist (drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photos, videos) specialized in the portrait. She was born in 1980 and lives and works in Paris. As the daughter and granddaughter of sailors who were passionate about painting, she grew up in Paris surrounded by maps of the world, colorful canvases, miniature boats, and photographs of distant lands. From early on, then, she felt compelled to travel and meet people from different cultures and backgrounds. After graduating from the Arts Déco school in Paris, she established a successful career as a graphic designer. Eventually, painting came back as a fundamental, irrepressible desire. For the past ten years, she has devoted as much time as possible to her painting practices, as well as developing new forms of artistic expression, including dance and music. Through her collaborations with neighborhood associations in New Orleans, Aubervilliers, where she used to live, and the 19th arrondissement, where she currently lives, she works with people who are not usually in contact with the art world. Her art is resolutely turned toward tolerance, culture mixing, and dialogue.
